Polaris World welcome FEGGA Scholarship Students

Polaris World recently welcomed our four new FEGGA scholarship students. The four greenkeeper students are Heleno Coelho Inacio - Portugal, Patrick Michel - Nigeria, Mark Anderton - England and Craig McCormack from Scotland. One of the first experiences they had was to attend a one day workshop, structured on water quality, set-up for them and delivered by the highly regarded and inspiring Dr Ronnie Duncan from USA.

A unique one Year Work Experience Scholarship Programme

The Scholarship programme will be based in the Murcia region of Spain in partnership with Polaris World and Ransomes Jacobsen. The Programme will be run over a period of one year.

The students will gain exceptional experience at Polaris World, working with some of the most qualified people and companies in golf course design and maintenance today. The unique work experience the students will have relates to the lecture programme that the students will have throughout the course of the year. The way that it will work is that they will learn skills and put those skills into valuable work experience. This helps the students not only gain the knowledge but also the experience of putting it to the test so that they don’t go away with just notes on how construction is carried out and what machinery is useful in different situations. Throughout this work experience, they will be overlooked by Sylvain Duval the Director of Construction and Maintenance at Polaris World.

GEO Industry Forum drives sustainable golf in Europe

Edinburgh, United Kingdom - The Golf Environment Organisation (GEO) and its European Golf Partners came together last week to consolidate a shared positive vision for sustainable golf, drive forward environmental programmes, and to collectively evaluate progress to date.

The meeting of this ‘Industry Forum’, administered by GEO, represents another milestone in the way in which golf’s strategic leaders are mapping out a future in which golf will be internationally recognised for enhancing environmental quality and human wellbeing.

The European Industry Forum lies at the heart of GEO’s structure - alongside the organisation’s Advisory Council, Scientific Network and CSR Committee. Convening for the eighth time since 2005, the Forum continues to enable Europe’s major golf organisations to formally engage on social and environmental issues with the sector’s leading international non-profit body.
