| Stig Persson (Sweden) Chairman
The FEGGA Board comes with a wealth of experience and is lead by Stig Persson the current Chairman. Stig became a board member in 2005 and became Chairman in 2009. Stig comes from the south Sweden and is the Club Manager at Ljunghusen Golf Club, where he has been since 1980.
In 1975 Stig was one of the founders of Swedish Greenkeepers Association, and was Chairman during 1984-1990. Stig has remained active within the SGA during all these years and has been instrumental in many other initiatives over the years such as:
During 1985 was One of the founders of Golf Administrators Association of Sweden.
1991-1996 was Chairman of Green Section of Swedish Golf Federation.
1996-1999, was a Member of Ecology Unit, with Ljunghusen being one of the “Pilot clubs”, in 1994 for the Environmental programme for the European Golf Association.
2002 Ljunghusen Golf Club first Golf Club in Sweden recognized in the environmental programme Committed To Green. And 2009 Ljunghusen GC was the first club to be certified by Golf Environment Organisation.
Stig has during the years been very active in Committees and projects for the Swedish Golf Federation and in education for greenkeepers, administrators and professionals in Course and Club maintenance and management topics.
Ólafur Þór Ágústsson (Iceland) Vice Chairman
Ólafur Þór Ágústsson was the first person to undertake formal education to become a greenkeeper in Iceland. He did this using his own funds to study at Elmwood College in Scotland, an investment he never regrets.
Olly has everyone knows him has now become a true ambassador for the Greenkeeping profession in Iceland, encouraging young greenkeepers to follow in his footsteps and make greenkeeping their profession. Olly has also become instrumental in the development of golf in Iceland, working closely with the Professional Golf Association of Iceland and also the Icelandic Golf Association. This relationship has lead to better golf Courses and more people taking up the game of golf.
Olly is currently the Course manager at the Golfklúbburinn Keilir, which boasts two very fine courses which have huge respect through the Icelandic golf community.
Olly joined the FEGGA board in 2009 and is the current Chairman of the Icelandic greenkeepers Association.
Kamil Pečenka (Czech Republic)
Kamil Pečenka, Czech Republic, joined the FEGGA board in 2009 and came into the Greenkeeping profession through his Horticulture background. He studied at Mendels University of agriculture and forestry, Horticulture Faculty, Brno, Czech Republic. It was whilst in the USA that his interest for golf started and in 1999-2001 he worked at The Broadmoor golf courses in Colorado, USA.
It was in 2001 that he journeyed back to Czech Republic to the Nová Amerika golf resort, Czech Republic, where he is currently the Head greenkeeper of 3 championship golf courses, plus training facilities.
In 2003 he attended the Winter school for Turfgrass Managers at the University of Massachusetts , USA.
Kamil has been a key Member of the growing Czech Greenkeepers Association and having a strong vision in creating a strong association that supports their industry. He is a member of the executive committee and is Responsible for foreign affairs, education, web and printing presentations.
Michael McFeely (Rep. of Ireland)
Michael McFeely comes from the Rep. of Ireland and started his greenkeeping career in 1985. He is currently the Course Superintendent at the West Manstown Golf Club in Dublin, where he has been since 1992.
Michael is currently the Honorary Secretary of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Ireland (GCSAI), a role he has played for the last few years. Along with serving the Association on a National level, he also committed to serve on a regional level as Secretary, dealing with the day to day issues and working hard at promoting education and encouraging young greenkeepers to become more involved with the profession.
Michael is another one of our newly elected board members, joining the FEGGA board in 2009.
